Two Storms

HD video projector, stereo sound
Duration: 6 minutes

Two Storms was recorded at the rainforest of the Peruvian Amazon jungle, in the surrounding area of San Roque de Cumbaza. Near the village, a development was underway to improve the provision of drinking water for the local population. In this short video, two sequences are juxtaposed: a looming storm and a worker resting at the shore of a small creek. Both actions evolve in parallel creating an audiovisual counterpoint, at once interrelated and disconnected. Two Storms explores the encounter of a backhoe and a rainstorm offering a poetic reflection about the politics of human development, progress, and climate change.
