Sobreviviente (Survivor) is a site-specific video installation created for the rooftop of the School of Architecture, Design and Urbanism at the University of Buenos Aires. Two rear projections juxtapose visual references about three important buildings in the city's historical, social and political life: the Jorge Newbery Airport, the Monumental Statdium (the biggest soccer stadium in the country), and the Escuela de Suboficiales de Mecánica de la Armada (the biggest center of detention and torture during the last military dictatorship from 1976 to 1983). The sound score of the piece (a composition of human voices and airplanes turbines) is mixed with the environmental soundscape of the air traffic coming from the airport.
The four sites are located in close proximity to each other, creating a complex urban space in the city of Buenos Aires. Survivor, is a critical visual exploration about how urbanity is conceptualized, organized and designed. The building of the School of Architecture, Design and Urbanism is the location for the dialogue and inquire about the historical and contemporary role of these institutions.

Sobreviviente es una video instalación de sitio específico diseñada para la terraza de la Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Urbanismo de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Dos proyecciones yuxtaponen imágenes de tres lugares icónicos en la vida social, histórico y política de la ciudad: el Aeropuerto Jorge Newbery, El estadio Monumental (el mas grande del país) y la Escuela de Suboficiales de Mecánica de la Armada (el mayor centro de detención, desaparición y tortura durante la última dictadura militar). La banda sonora – compuesta por voces y turbinas – se mezcla con el sonido del trafico aéreo proveniente del aeropuerto. La terraza es transformada en un espacio de reflexión y diálogo acerca del rol histórico, político y social de estos sitios.
