Information / Short Bio

Alejandro Borsani (b. Argentina) is an artist and educator interested in how western science constructs ideas about nature as an inert, passive object of appropriation. His work mixes sculpture, electronics and computation to stage intimate encounters with alternative imaginaries of nature in which poetic knowledge challenges hegemonic technoscientific discourses. He utilizes video, animation and sound to create narratives that mix fact and fiction around sites with contested histories and uncertain futures.

His works have been presented in solo shows, group exhibitions, festivals and conferences in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, England, Germany, India, Pakistan, Peru, Portugal, United States and Uruguay.

Borsani currently serves as Associate Professor of Design in the Division of Experimental & Foundation Studies at the Rhode Island School of Design

He holds an MFA in Electronic Arts from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MFA in Electronic Visualization from the School of Art and Design of the University of Illinois at Chicago and a BA in Audiovisual Design from the School of Architecture, Design and Urbanism at the University of Buenos Aires.

He lives and works in Providence (US) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).
